DAY 2 on Selection TEAM Training Camp
The program on Day 2 with the Selection Team powered by Pupkewitz Megabuild was surely eventful for the young aspiring footballers. The day started with the different age groups doing coordination, speed and agility warm ups under the watchful eye of former U20 National team player Garren Smit. Garren Smit studied Sport Science at the University of Stellenbosch. After that the players had to sharpen their technical skills with passing drills being the order of the day and the Goalkeepers where being put through their paces by the Goalkeeper Coach Gift. The session was rounded of with target shooting!
During the lunch break the players fueled their reserves with carbohydrates in the form of Spaghetti Bolognese just like the professionals and their idols on tv have as pre-match meals. During this time the players that normally are rivals on the field in the MTC Hopsol Youth Soccer League bonded outside of the football field. Laughter, lots of talking and laughing was the order of the lunch hour.
The second session was continued on the field after lunch and 5 vs 5 game forms was on the plan. Lots of goals, lots of screaming and lots of celebrations was to be seen and heard on the field. For most of the players having 2 sessions during a day was definitely a first. What an eventful day it was for these young heroes!
