Trainings-Camp successfully completed!
HopSol Youngsters complete a three-day football course
The organizers of the first football training camp of the HopSol youth league are more than satisfied after the three-day course for under-13 to 17-year-olds. Even if there are still problems at one point or another, in the opinion of coordinator and media officer Harald Fülle and trainer and ex-Bundesliga professional Collin Benjamin, we are on the right track and have achieved a lot in the short time. The course, which was held at the Windhoek Sports Club (SKW), was made possible by Pupkewitz with a 100,000 Namibian dollar donation.
Over 70 players in three age groups were challenged from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, especially in basic techniques, physique and mental strength. A total of eight trainers, a goalkeeping coach and fitness trainer not only checked the footballing skills of the young footballers but also documented the sporting data of the young footballers for further evaluation of the performance review.
For the course of the so-called “Pupkewitz Selection Teams”, the best players in each age group of the HopSol youth soccer league of the 2020 season were selected. So that there were no restrictions in the current season, the young talents had already completed their sixth game day last week.
Benjamin summed up Sunday lunchtime that the basic techniques – passing and receiving the ball – are still lacking. The 42-year-old former midfielder was also disappointed with the support from the clubs and would have liked more sympathy from the responsible coach. “There were a few there, but they are always the same.”
Another unfortunate factor was the fact that the Khomas Youth League set up its own course at short notice on the long-planned date and therefore had to cancel some of the selected participants. Due to the ranks, however, the conclusion of the players was positive. For many of the participants it was the first intensive course at this high level. It was definitely an asset to abundance. “We have achieved great things and we will continue to pursue these courses.”
