Goals Galore in Inaugural Megabuild Tournament
The inaugural Pupkewitz Megabuild Premier Youth Soccer cup started the youth soccer season with a bang. Not only is the Cup competition in its maiden year but it is also the first youth soccer tournament on the Calender.
Friend and foe flocked to the venues to watch the action. Which players changed clubs, which players moved up to the next age group and which players are going to play major roles in their respective teams? These were some of the questions being raised at the fields.
A total of 45 soccer matches in the age groups U15, U17 and U19 were played in the course of 3 days. A staggering 152 goals were scored. The newcomers from Rehoboth and Okahandja had mixed results.
Owner of Hobasen Academy Jeremy Cloete was all praised for the sponsors (Megabuild) and the organizers (MTC HopSol Youth Soccer League):
“The kind of exposure my boys are receiving is very good for their development as they are playing against stiffer opposition and in an organized set up”.
Coach Makalani of Okahandja Football Academy expressed his gratitude to all involved in setting the platform for his team to compete:
“Our boys are used to winning everything in Okahandja but saw that the competition in Windhoek is better prepared and are used to playing 3 matches in a day”.
The question remains as to who will lift the cup?
