MTCHopSol YSL 2023: Rookies Edition

It has been over 7 days played; four match days later and most of the newbies are finding it a little difficult to settle and keep points on the board. It seems like the new teams are struggling to adjust to the league, with most of them still having zero points. RSK and Van Rhyn are currently at the bottom of the table in their respective age groups, while DCSA is at the bottom of the table in both the U/12 and U/19 age groups.

On the other hand, DSFA seems to be doing relatively better, with teams playing in three different age groups and securing 3 points in all of them. They are currently sitting at 4th , 2nd , and 5th  place in the U/11, U/12, and U/15 age groups, respectively.

Hage Geingob U/19 managed to obtain 4 points and are 5th on the standings after covering all possible match outcomes in the three matches they have played. Their last match gave them a taste of defeat when they lost 1-0 to Gemmies.

Jan Mohr seem to find the going tougher as a club in comparison to the other newcomers. The school has made an assembly in the bottom of the standing in both their U/17 and U/15 groups. The team as a whole managed to play four matches thus far. They now have 3 goals with no points to show.

Hochland high like their fellow scholars came with two teams (U/17 and U/15) in the league. Over the four match days, the two have managed to escape the last place with at least two matches in hand. . The U/15 whipped Swallows 2-1 in a thrilling match last Saturday, sending them to the 5th position. U/17 squad is scavenging off of other teams’ bad office days as they are yet to be tested, but are now in the 8th position on the log.

After defeating Kasaona fa over the weekend, Prolific Fa U/13 have secured 5 points in the league so far, as well as second place on the table. They have not lost any match thus far and have only a goal’s difference between them and the log toppers. They are definitely taking the completion by storm. However, the statement is not true for their U/11. They younger ones are forced to live vicariously through their older siblings when they lost 14-0 to KFA, and are now in the last position on the log with no points and no goals.

It is common for new teams to struggle in a new league as they need time to adapt to the playing style, strategies, and level of competition. New teams can eventually rise up the ranks and become a formidable force in the league, and this we cannot wait to see.
