The MTC HopSol YSL marketing team caught up with the talented Brave Warriors and African Stars’ midfielder Marcell Papama and asked him a few questions including his advice to the younger footballers.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

  • I am from Aminus.

WHAT IS YOUR DAILY MOTIVATION?

  • My daily motivation is my family.

AT WHAT AGE DID YOU START PLAYING SOCCER?

  • I started balling at the age of 6.

WHERE WOULD YOU HAVE BEEN IF IT WAS NOT FOR SOCCER?

  • I really have no clue, but I think I will be doing Sport Management.

IN TERMS OF SOCCER, WOULD YOU SAY YOU’VE LIVED YOUR DREAM?

  • Yes! I have lived my dream, like come on, I am representing my country that was all just a dream.

WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU: TO SCORE OR TO ASSIST?

  • To score, even though as a midfielder, an assist always feels good.

MANY YOUNGSTERS LOOK UP TO YOU, BUT WHO WAS YOUNG MARCELL’S SOCCER HERO, AND IS IT STILL THE SAME?

  • My soccer hero was Thierry Henry and Frank Ribery because I remember I had self-made t-shirts of both players. I really like those two. And as time went by, I had my own Kasi hero someone who I could see every day and have a chat with which is Teberius Lombard. As young boys from the hood, we all wanted to be like him and play in the big league.

IF YOU WERE NOT A MIDFIELDER, WHAT OTHER POSITION WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY?

  • I would like to play as a keeper, it really seems very fun.

  • Kapana

LASTLY DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO LOOK UP TO YOU?

  • Yes I do, have advice for them, you must believe in yourself no matter what. Be disciplined, disciplined and disciplined. Hard work never kills and please stay in lane with the Almighty God.
